We stock and install Elite-compatible hinge and roller replacement parts across San Antonio, with most full hinge and roller swaps running between $220 and $480 installed depending on gate size and how many rollers need replacing. We carry the common Elite sizes on our trucks, so we can usually complete the job in one visit. Most owners discover the problem the same way: the gate starts dragging on the ground, makes a grinding noise when it swings, or one corner sits visibly lower than the other. That sag is almost always a worn hinge and roller set working itself loose, and the longer it waits, the more the gate frame itself takes the punishment.

We’re an independent service provider, not affiliated with Elite, but we’ve been working on their gate hardware across San Antonio long enough to know exactly which hinge and roller configuration belongs on each model line. Cody Beckman keeps a notebook in his vest pocket with Elite part measurements and model references from jobs all over the city, from Alamo Heights to Stone Oak. That record is why we can match parts without making you hunt for a serial number you can’t read anymore.
Which Elite Models This Applies To
Elite gate hardware isn’t one single hinge and roller design. The company has produced several series over the years, and the parts don’t always interchange. Most residential Elite gates in San Antonio fall into one of two camps: the lighter single-panel swing gates that take a compact 4-inch hinge plate with a single sealed-bearing roller underneath, and the heavier dual-panel and estate-style gates that spec a 6-inch or larger plate with dual rollers per hinge point. If your gate has a welded steel frame and a fair amount of weight to it, you’re in that second camp, and the hinge and roller kit matters more than most people expect.
Here’s the compatibility gotcha we run into regularly: Elite’s older hinge brackets used a specific bolt spacing that later models changed by about a quarter inch. A generic hardware-store hinge won’t line up with the existing holes, and drilling new holes into the gate post weakens it. We measure the old hinge before we touch anything and match it to the correct Elite bolt pattern. When OEM Elite parts are available, we’ll quote them. When they’re on backorder, we offer quality aftermarket equivalents with the same plate dimensions and roller bearing spec, and we’ll show you both numbers on the written price before any work starts.

Signs Your Elite Hinge & Roller Replacement Is Failing
- The gate drags or scrapes the driveway when it opens. That’s the roller under the hinge plate wearing flat on one side. In San Antonio’s heat, the nylon roller sleeve hardens and cracks faster than in cooler climates, which is why we see this a lot by year six or seven.
- You can hear a grinding or squealing sound as the gate moves. The sealed bearing inside the roller is dry or shot. Once the bearing starts to seize, the roller stops rolling and starts sliding, which accelerates the wear on everything else.
- One corner of the gate sits lower than the rest. The hinge pin has elongated the hole in the bracket or the roller has collapsed. Either way, the gate is now resting on the hardware instead of moving through it.
- The gate won’t close fully and latches with an extra shove. A sagging gate means the latch alignment is off. Forcing it closed every day bends the latch post, and now you have two repairs instead of one.
- You can wiggle the gate up and down by hand with the gate in the closed position. That play means the hinge and roller set has worn beyond adjustment. It won’t tighten back up, and leaving it only lets the gate frame stress near the hinge welds.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
For most Elite gates in San Antonio, a full hinge and roller replacement runs $220 to $480 installed. The range comes down to three things: whether it’s a single-hinge or dual-hinge configuration, how many rollers need replacing, and whether the gate is a lighter aluminum frame or a heavier steel one. A simple two-hinge, two-roller replacement on a standard single gate sits at the lower end. A heavy wood or steel double gate with four contact points lands at the upper end. You’ll see the exact number in writing before we touch anything, always. No estimate-after-the-fact, no surprise line items.
That price includes the replacement parts, removing the old hinge and roller set, installing and leveling the new set, and adjusting the gate so it swings level and latches cleanly. It also includes our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if something about the hinge and roller replacement isn’t right within a year, we come back and make it right, no argument and no fine print.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely check a few things yourself: look at the gap between the gate’s bottom edge and the ground, watch whether one roller is spinning when the gate moves, and feel for vertical play when you lift the gate from the latch side. What you don’t want to do is unbolt a hinge on a heavy Elite gate while it’s still attached. The moment that hinge leaves the post, the full weight of the gate transfers to whatever’s left, and if that’s you, it’s a crushed-hand or worse scenario. Gates that weigh several hundred pounds don’t drift down gently. We’ve seen the aftermath and we’d rather you call first.
If you’d rather not spend a weekend under an unbalanced gate, call us at (325) 252-5195. We’ll match the hinge and roller set to your Elite model, quote it before we start, and lay down shoe covers and drop cloths if we step inside your home while we work.
FAQs
Most Elite hinge and roller setups in San Antonio last 5 to 9 years depending on gate weight, hinge count, and sun exposure. The heat and UV here harden the nylon rollers faster than coastal climates, so concrete driveways that absorb and radiate heat year-round tend to shorten that window. If you’re at year six and hearing noise, that’s about right.
No, not in any lasting way. Once the bearing wears out or the roller loses its round shape, there’s nothing to rebuild. “Lubricating” a worn roller just quiets it for a few days while the problem gets worse. Replacement is the repair. Call (325) 252-5195 and we’ll quote the full swap before we start.
Most hinge and roller replacements take 60 to 90 minutes once we’re on site, assuming the gate post is sound. If the post has shifted or the gate frame needs welding, that extends the visit, and we’ll tell you before we start rather than discovering it halfway through.
We carry the common Elite hinge and roller sizes on our trucks in San Antonio, plus aftermarket equivalents for the older bolt patterns. If your gate needs a non-stock size or a specific OEM set, we can order it and schedule the install as soon as it arrives. Call (325) 252-5195 and we’ll check what fits your gate.
If your Elite gate is sagging, grinding, or dragging, get it right once and you won’t have to think about it again. Call (325) 252-5195 for a free replacement estimate. We’ll quote the parts and labor in writing before any work begins, clean up after ourselves, and back the whole job with our 365-Day Done Right Promise.
