We stock and install LiftMaster-compatible welded gate components across San Antonio, with most custom fabrication jobs priced between $240 and $680 installed. The work is typically completed within three to five business days once we’ve measured your gate and matched the failed part. You’ll know this is your problem when the gate sags, the hinges groan, or a weld finally gives way and a corner of the gate drops an inch or two off the post.

What we see most often in San Antonio is a fatigue crack at a hinge plate or a broken weld where the gate frame meets the operator arm mount. It’s rarely the gate’s fault. It’s usually age, heat, and thousands of open-close cycles doing what physics does. The good news is that a proper weld, done with the right rod and the right technique, will outlast the original factory joint in most cases.
We’re an independent San Antonio gate shop, not affiliated with LiftMaster. We work on their equipment every week and keep their hardware specs close, but we answer to you, not to a corporate parts catalog.
Which LiftMaster Models This Applies To
LiftMaster gate operators drive a lot of different gate types, and the welding and fabrication work usually follows one of three paths: repairing the gate frame itself, rebuilding the hinge or post mounts that the operator pulls against, or fabricating a new operator arm bracket when the original has cracked or wallowed out. We regularly handle welding and fabrication on gates running the LiftMaster LA400, LA412, LA500, LGO5011, SL3000, and CSL24V lines, plus their equivalent commercial swing and slide units.
The gotcha that catches a lot of San Antonio owners: LiftMaster’s residential swing arms and commercial slide brackets are not interchangeable, even when the bolt pattern looks close at first glance. The LA400 and LA412 use a lighter arm with a narrower clevis pin, while the LA500 and CSL24V pull through a heavier-duty bracket. If you buy an aftermarket bracket online and it doesn’t carry the exact LiftMaster part number for your model, the pin will slop, the weld will fatigue, and you’ll be fixing it again. We measure the gate, confirm the operator model, and match the metal before anything gets cut or welded.
The honest split on OEM versus aftermarket: for brackets and hinge plates, we use heavy-gauge steel fabricated locally, and it regularly outlasts the original. For operator arms and specific LiftMaster eyelets, we buy OEM, because the tolerances matter too much to gamble with a catalog clone.

Signs Your LiftMaster Welding & Fabrication Is Failing
- The gate sags on the latch side. This usually means the top hinge weld or hinge plate is stretching or cracking. You’ll see the gap at the latch grow wider at the top than the bottom.
- The operator arm bangs or shudders on startup. The arm mount or clevis pin is loose, which means the weld around the bracket is cracking or the hole has ovaled out from wear.
- A visible crack in the gate frame or near a weld joint. In San Antonio’s heat and occasional hard rains, bare steel expands and contracts every day. A small crack becomes a propagation point fast, especially on older single-panel gates in neighborhoods like Alamo Heights.
- The gate stops mid-travel and the operator throws a fault. A warped or cracked frame binds against the hinges, and the LiftMaster control board reads the added resistance as an obstruction.
- Rust streaks staining the gate below a hinge or weld. Moisture gets into a micro-fracture and works its way through the joint. By the time you see the streak, the weld has been compromised for weeks.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
Most LiftMaster-related welding and fabrication work in San Antonio runs between $240 and $680 installed. A simple crack repair and re-weld on a single hinge plate lands at the lower end. Rebuilding a post mount, fabricating a new operator arm bracket, or gusseting a cracked frame corner moves toward the upper end. If the post itself is rotted or leaning, that’s a gate post replacement and the price shifts accordingly.
Every price we quote includes the steel, the welding consumables, the grinding, the finish coat on the repaired area, and our labor. You see the written number before any work starts. No surprises at the end. No “well, we found this while we were in there” invoices. And every weld and fabricated part we install is covered by our 365-Day Done Right Promise. If it’s not right, we make it right.
Welding near a residential gate involves heat, sparks, and occasionally grinding dust. We lay drop cloths on any surface within range and put on shoe covers before we step inside your home. If you’ve got kids napping or dogs that startle, tell us and we’ll schedule the noisy work for a quiet window.
DIY or Call Us?
If your gate is sagging, you can safely check the hinge bolts and tighten anything that’s visibly loose. You can also note the exact LiftMaster model number from the label on the operator arm or control box, which helps us bring the right bracket the first trip out.
What you should not do is grind out the old weld and run a bead yourself without the right equipment and some honest experience. Welding on a gate that supports hundreds of pounds, with a powered operator attached to it, is not a beginner project. A cold weld or an undercut joint fails without warning, and a gate dropping onto a kid or a pet is not worth the money saved on a service call.
Cody Beckman has spent two decades working gates and openers across the Southwest, and he’ll tell you the same thing he tells his own neighbors: get it right once, and you won’t have to think about it again. Call us at (325) 252-5195 and we’ll come measure, quote a written price, and do the repair so it stays repaired.
FAQs
A properly welded hinge plate or bracket on a LiftMaster-driven gate typically lasts 15 to 20 years in San Antonio’s climate, assuming the gate itself remains balanced and the operator arm stays properly adjusted. The original welds often fail sooner because factory joints on some gate frames are visually clean but structurally thin. We grind the joint, add gusset plates where the frame allows, and finish with a corrosion-resistant coat so the Texas heat and humidity don’t eat the repair from the inside out. Call (325) 252-5195 and we’ll assess your specific gate in person.
Most cracked gate frames can be repaired with a proper weld and a reinforcing gusset plate, as long as the surrounding steel is still sound. We’ll only recommend replacement if the frame has multiple cracks, severe internal rust, or metal too thin to weld safely. We stock plate steel and fabrication materials on our trucks for LiftMaster gates, so the repair usually happens in one visit once we’ve matched the work to your gate. Call us for a written estimate before you assume the worst.
Most single-bracket or hinge repairs on a LiftMaster gate take two to four hours on site. A full operator arm bracket fabrication with gussets and finish coating usually runs four to six hours. We give you a time window before we arrive and a written price before we touch anything, so you know both the cost and the schedule up front.
We keep heavy-gauge steel plate, angle iron, hinge pins, and common bracket profiles on our trucks so most LiftMaster gate repairs in San Antonio can be completed the same visit. Specific OEM LiftMaster arms and eyelets are sourced from our local supplier, usually available next business day. We also keep parts for Mighty Mule, Ghost Controls, and DoorKing gates, since those brands show up all over San Antonio too. Call (325) 252-5195 and we’ll confirm stock before we roll.
