This page is for San Antonio homeowners with Elite-brand gate equipment: swing gates, slide gates, and the operators that move them. As an independent Elite service provider, we stock and source the parts these systems actually need, including bearings, control boards, and limit switches that big-box stores don’t carry. Cody Beckman, who owns Latch and Post Gate Repair San Antonio, has worked on Elite equipment across the Southwest for nearly two decades and keeps a record of every model number he touches.
How Elite Products Fail and How We Fix Them
Elite builds sturdy gate operators, and their slide-gate lines are particularly common in San Antonio’s newer subdivisions and ranchette properties. But every brand has patterns. These are the five failure modes we see most often on Elite equipment in this city:
- Elite SL-3000 / SL-3000B swing operators burning through limit switches. The older mechanical limit assemblies on these models pick up dust and grit, especially during San Antonio’s dry stretches, and the gate slowly loses its open and close positions until it starts slamming or stopping halfway. We pull the cover, clean and test the limit assembly, and replace it with the correct OEM part when the contacts are worn. It’s a $90 to $140 repair and it keeps the motor from fighting itself.
- Gate bearing and wheel failure on Elite slide gates. Slide gates ride on steel wheels and a top guide rail, and when those bearings wear out, the gate gets heavy at the halfway point, then blows the motor capacitor. This is the most common “the gate stopped moving” call we get in San Antonio, and the fix is mechanical before it’s electrical: new carrier wheels, fresh bearings, and the gate re-leveled so the operator isn’t doing double duty.
- Elite Mirage and Pro series board resets after storms. San Antonio’s summer lightning and rolling power flickers will scramble the programming on older Elite control boards. The gate either forgets its travel limits or the remote receivers drop their codes. We re-flash or reprogram the board, check the surge suppression, and in about half an hour the gate’s running like it was a week ago.
- Photocell misalignment, especially at dusk. The sun sits low in the west across much of San Antonio in the spring and fall, and it shine-blinds the photo eyes on Elite systems. The safest fix is re-aiming the send-and-receive pair and, where the location makes it impossible to shade them, swapping in a hooded or longer-range receiver pair. If a photocell is sending a false obstacle signal, the gate refuses to close, and that’s a safety sensor doing its job. It needs alignment, not bypassing.
- Hinge and post wear on Elite swing gates with the Elite SL-1000 operator. The SL-1000 is a compact residential swing operator that will happily run for a decade, but the gate’s hinges take the real abuse. We see King William and Monte Vista gates where the leaf has dropped three-quarters of an inch and the operator arm is now pulling at an angle it was never designed for. We weld, shim, or replace the hinge weldments, re-align the leaf, and then re-set the operator’s travel limits.

Our Elite Gate Repair Process
When you call us about an Elite gate in San Antonio, here’s what happens, in order:
- 1
You call, a person answers. No voicemail tree. We ask what the gate is doing or not doing, what brand and model you can see, and we schedule a visit that works for your day.
- 2
We diagnose before we quote. The technician checks the mechanical components first, then the electrical: operator arm, hinges, wheels, board, limiter, receiver, remote battery. Then we write the price down. Every time.
- 3
You approve the number, and only then do we start. No work begins without your okay. The written price includes parts, labor, and any hardware we’ll need.
- 4
We use OEM or proven aftermarket parts, depending on the job. On limit switches and control boards, we prefer Elite OEM or factory-equivalent parts to keep warranty and performance clean. On hardware like wheels, hinges, and photo eyes, we’ll offer a quality aftermarket option when it saves you money and doesn’t shorten the repair’s life.
- 5
We test the full cycle three times. Open, close, obstruction reversal, and remote. Quiet tools, drop cloths under our work, and we ask before moving anything in your yard.
- 6
We leave you with the record. Model number, service date, what we did, and a photo of the cleanup before we drive away.
Cody learned this routine the hard way, back before Latch and Post existed, when a customer asked him a month later what exactly had been replaced and he had to guess. Now there’s a notepad in the vest pocket and a photo on every ticket. “Get it right once, and you won’t have to think about it again.”
What Elite Gate Repair Costs in San Antonio
Every Elite job in San Antonio gets a written quote before any work starts. That part is not optional, and it never changes between the quote and the invoice. What you pay depends on what’s actually wrong, and here’s the honest range:
- Limit switch replacement or adjustment: $85 – $140
- Photocell alignment or replacement: $75 – $160
- Remote or keypad receiver reprogramming: $60 – $110
- Slide gate carrier wheel and bearing replacement: $220 – $400 per gate, depending on weight and access
- Elite control board replacement (Pro or Mirage line): $280 – $520 with the OEM or equivalent board
- Hinge weldment repair and gate re-alignment: $180 – $420, depending on gate size and steel work needed
What moves the price? Gate weight, access to the operator, whether the post or gate frame needs welding, and whether we’re replacing a part or re-engineering an old installation that was never quite right. Estimates are free. Call (325) 252-5195 and we’ll give you the number in writing.

AfterWhy San Antonio Homeowners Call Latch and Post Gate Repair San Antonio for Elite Work
Every gate comes down to two parts: the latch that holds it and the post that carries it. That’s the job we focus on, and that’s the name on the truck. We’ve been at this since 2009 as part of the Cedarwell family, and the way we work is written down so there are no surprises: a written price before anything starts, shoe covers and drop cloths inside, and a cleanup photo on the way out.

Our techs are background-checked, uniformed, and factory-trained on the brands families actually own. That includes Elite, of course, but also LiftMaster, Mighty Mule, Ghost Controls, and DoorKing. When an Elite panel needs a retrofit operator or a homeowner wants a keypad that talks to their phone, we match the right equipment to the actual usage, the gate cycles, and whether there are kids or dogs near the driveway. We schedule around nap time when quiet matters, and we use pet-safe lubricants where there’s a choice.
No alarm, no upsell. Just a straight answer and a repair that stays fixed.
FAQs
Most Elite repair visits in San Antonio land between $75 and $520, depending on whether the problem is a misaligned sensor or a failed control board. Simple limit-switch and reprogramming jobs run under $140, while slide-gate bearing or board replacements can push past $400 when the gate is heavy and access is tight. You’ll see the exact number in writing before we touch anything. Call (325) 252-5195 for a free estimate.
We’re an independent Elite service provider, not a factory-authorized service center, so we don’t process warranty claims on Elite’s behalf. What we can do is tell you honestly if a part should still be under warranty, document the failure clearly, and give you the information you need to pursue that claim with the dealer or installer. If the warranty has lapsed or was tied to an installer who’s no longer around, we’ll quote you the repair at our normal rates, in writing, before the work starts.
Many Elite gate repairs in San Antonio are single-visit jobs, and we keep our trucks stocked with the boards, limiters, and bearings these systems need most. If your gate is stuck open or won’t close and you have a pet or a pool, tell the live person who answers. We’ll do what we can to get to you fast, and we’ll always tell you the truth about timing rather than promise a dispatch window we can’t keep.
That depends on the gate’s mechanical condition and the operator’s age. A well-built Elite slide gate with solid posts and good wheels is usually worth repairing, even if the board needs replacing. But if the gate itself is sagging, the carriage is rusted, and the motor is 15 years old, putting $500 into a repair on a machine with another failure around the corner may not be the right call. We’ll show you the numbers for both paths and let you decide, with no pressure either way.
Yes. Along with Elite, we service LiftMaster, Mighty Mule, Ghost Controls, and DoorKing gate equipment. If you have an Elite gate and a LiftMaster keypad or a Ghost Controls entry system on the same property, one visit and one tech can handle all of it.
